INTRODUCTION

The temple is located in the Mandsaur village of the state of Madhya Pradesh of India on the bank of the River Shivna. The believers of Hindu religion have for year’s reposed great faith in the existence of the festival. In the state of Madhya Pradesh, Pashupatinath temple is considered to be one of the most famous temples and the temple is dedicated to worshipping Lord Shiva, a Hindu deity. The attraction of the temple is the eight-faced Lingam of Lord Shiva at the temple. The eight-faced deity at the temple is still in the same state as it was when it was built and while the upper faces have been worked out completely and they are properly visible while the lower faces have been only partially worked out and they are hard to see though clearly. There are four doors in the temple each located in the all four directions.

The Shiva Linga

The temple presenting to the pilgrimages featuring a Shiva Linga and it’s weight is around 4.6 tons and measures 8’ * 10.5’. The height of the temple is 101 feet, its width is 30 feet and its length is 90 feet. There is a 100 kg pitcher on the top section of the temple which is plated with gold. The site of the temple is beautiful when during the Monsoon season; the water level in the river rises and touches the Shiva Linga. And this natural phenomenon is called as Jalaabhishek or worshipping Lord with water.

Other Deities at the Temple

With the passage of time many other idols of various Hindu deities were established here at the temple. Some of those deities include Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Vishnu, Godess Lakshmi, Goddess Gaanga and many others. Besides that, there is a huge idol of Nandi Maharaj which faces in the West alongside an idol of Saint Adyashankaracharya.

As per the Hindu mythology, the Pashupatinath temple has been built quite a long century ago. The story goes like, from the Shivna River on Monday, the Linga of Shiva, emerged out of waters and therefor, this is considered really auspicious. On the preceding Sunday, the Linga reached to the Tapeshwar Ghat and finally it was positioned there. Later, exactly after 21 years, 5 Months and 4 days, it got incarnated. And, therefore, that day is celebrated with a Mela in the neighbour of the temple.

Climate of Mandaur

It varies from season to season! While during the winter season, the temperature drops to 32- 14 degree Celsius and it goes to 34 to 44 Degrees Celsius during the summers. Monsoon in the area comes with a plenty amount of rainfall in the month of July.

Mansaur is the nearest railway ideas to the temple which connects the city to most parts of the country. And devotees can conveniently, take taxi, bus or a cab to reach to the temple as it is only 3 kms away from the railway station.

The Mandsaur village is very much suitably connected to the most neighbouring cities and towns of the state.

Dabok airport is the nearest airport to the temple which is 148 Km away from the temple and from here the devotees can easily take up taxi or cab to reach to the temple.
